Three Daughters is an independent community ceramics studio coming to Austin, Texas.

The studio is being built by Tommy Holton — a ceramic artist, educator, and current ACC instructor — with the goal of creating a long-term space centered on thoughtful making, excellent teaching, and genuine community.

This will be a small, high-quality studio focused on:

  • wheel throwing and hand-building classes,

  • open studio access for members,

  • workshops and community events,

  • artist growth at every level,

  • and a welcoming environment for both beginners and experienced makers.

Three Daughters is intentionally being built slowly and carefully.

Rather than pursuing a large commercial model, the goal is to create a sustainable studio that can remain rooted in Austin for years to come — a place where people can learn, make, experiment, and build lasting creative relationships.

Your support helps fund:

  • kilns and ventilation,

  • pottery wheels and work tables,

  • shelving and studio buildout,

  • glaze materials and equipment,

  • community programming,

  • and the many startup costs involved in opening an independent ceramics studio.

A Note About Donations

Three Daughters is currently in the studio development and buildout phase. Contributions are used to support startup expenses associated with opening the studio and are not tax-deductible charitable donations.

Join the creative community at Three Daughters Ceramics, a welcoming, well-equipped studio designed for ceramic artists looking to develop their practice independently while connecting with fellow makers.

Our monthly membership offers the freedom and flexibility to work at your own pace, explore new techniques, and build a consistent studio practice outside the structure of scheduled classes.

Membership includes:

  • Flexible studio access during designated member hours

  • Use of pottery wheels, hand-building tables, and shared studio equipment

  • Access to communal tools, slab roller, and other studio resources

  • Access to studio glazes and kiln firing, subject to studio firing policies

  • Designated shelf space for personal tools and works in progress

  • Complimentary reclaim clay when available, while supplies last

  • A supportive community of ceramic artists at all experience levels

Clay & Materials

Members provide their own clay, which must be compatible with the studio's firing temperatures and procedures. Reclaimed clay is available for complimentary use while supplies last. Shared studio glazes are available for member use.

Kiln Firing

Members have access to studio kiln firing for work produced at Three Daughters. All work must comply with studio clay, glaze, and firing guidelines. Firing schedules and any applicable limits or fees will be communicated to members.

Who is membership for?

Studio membership is intended for individuals with previous ceramics experience who can work safely and independently. Whether you're an experienced potter or a developing artist looking for a dedicated creative space, Three Daughters offers the equipment, flexibility, and community to support your practice.

 It is a month-to-month commitment with a 60-day cancellation notice required.

Classes

In addition to membership, we offer small, focused classes:

  • 6-week sessions

  • Wheel throwing + handbuilding

  • Taught with the same attention to process and material

Members receive priority access.
